The Gurgaon administration has made it mandatory for builders, developers and property dealers of the city to get themselves registered. The move, according to officials, will help check bogus land deals. The rule of mandatory registration was introduced back in 2009 but now, in order to implement it fully and efficiently, the administration on Monday announced that the unregistered dealers or developers operating in the city will have to pay a hefty fine.

Deputy commissioner R K Kataria, while addressing representatives of various Gurgaon-based developers like Ansals, DLF and Unitech, asked them to submit a list of plots sold by them to date. We also asked for a list of property dealers working for them. And told them to refrain from working with unregistered dealers, said Kataria. Apart from getting blacklisted, the unregistered dealers or developers will be made to pay a fine up to a lakh.

Gurgaon has a burgeoning realty sector and this move, the officials say, will establish accountability. People come from outside Gurgaon to buy plot. They are shown plots by the dealers. And after the deal, they are swindled. I have seen many such cases. Once we have everyone registered and have a track of the parties involved, such cases wouldnt be possible, said Kataria.
